DFINITY Signs MoU With Pakistan Digital Authority to Explore Internet Computer Cloud Infrastructure

DFINITY Foundation, the developer organization behind Internet Computer (ICP), signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pakistan Digital Authority in February 2026 to explore the use of decentralized cloud and blockchain technologies within Pakistan’s national digital infrastructure initiatives.

The partnership focuses on evaluating how Internet Computer’s architecture could support government digital services through fully on chain applications. The network’s canister based system enables developers to deploy frontend, backend, and data storage directly on the blockchain, allowing applications to run without relying on traditional centralized cloud providers.

This capability positions Internet Computer as a decentralized alternative to conventional cloud infrastructure platforms. Through its design, ICP aims to enable secure and verifiable applications that operate entirely on blockchain based infrastructure, potentially improving transparency and reducing reliance on third party hosting services.

The collaboration may also explore integration of ICP’s Chain Fusion technology, which allows interoperability with other blockchain networks. Chain Fusion is designed to enable cross chain interactions without traditional bridging mechanisms, allowing decentralized applications to access assets and data from other ecosystems.

While specific implementation details were not publicly disclosed, the Memorandum of Understanding indicates a framework for cooperation and experimentation. Potential areas of exploration could include digital government services, verifiable computation systems, and infrastructure for AI agents built directly on blockchain architecture.

The agreement represents a step toward institutional adoption of blockchain infrastructure in emerging markets. Government partnerships often provide opportunities for pilot programs and testing environments that can demonstrate real world applications of decentralized technology.
